Our demonstration this Thursday starts at 7 o’clock, with entry at the usual £4 for members and £5 for visitors. We’ll also take our usual break halfway through for refreshments – and, of course, a chance for a chat!

This week, we’re delighted to welcome Sharon Hurst, who will be showing us the fascinating technique of granulated watercolour painting.

Sharon’s artwork features a captivating range of subjects, including animals, deep-sea monsters and mythical creatures. Her inspiration comes from her travels, from the Aegean Sea to the Orkney Islands, as well as from literature such as The Kraken Wakes and Gustav Klimt’s The Sea Serpent.

It promises to be an interesting, thought-provoking and informative evening, with plenty to inspire us. Tables will be set up for anyone who would like to paint along with Sharon, so bring your materials and have a go!have 

The Heritage Pop-Up Exhibition in the Heart Shopping Centre is looking great and has involved more than 40 members. So far, we’ve had a good number of visitors, with lots of interest in the club as well.

As a showcase for Walton Art Club, it has already proved very successful, with several visitors showing an interest in joining. Artists have also been selling their work, along with lots of cards, so we’re hoping this continues right through until the exhibition closes on Sunday.

Organising an event like this is a mammoth task, so it’s fantastic to see so many members getting involved with setting up, stewarding and generally helping to make the exhibition a success.

The new sales system works on an IPad and was built based on feedback from previous exhibitions. Members have found it easy to use and it helps us to keep accurate records.

Stewarding isn’t just about looking after the exhibition either – it’s always a great opportunity to have a chat and get to know some of our fellow members a little bit better!

Last week, lots of members brought along their artwork based on the theme of Reflections. We displayed all the work in the coffee area, giving everyone the chance to have a good look and vote for their favourites.

The voting was extremely close, resulting in a tie for first place! Choosing favourites was certainly not easy, as the quality and diversity of the work made it almost impossible to choose. Votes were spread across the whole range of paintings, which just goes to show what a great selection we had.

Congratulations must go to Jackie and Gregory, who shared first place. Well done to both of you!

We’re now starting to design the publicity for our next exhibition at Riverhouse Barn Arts Centre. We’ll be using some of the images members have uploaded to showcase the wonderful range of work produced by our artists. We’re keen to get the publicity out there well in advance, so that the exhibition can be promoted as widely as possible.
