July Opening

We intend to open every Thursday throughout July, though have to close for August as the new owners of the centre are carrying out refurbishments.

We are planning to reopen for the Autumn on the 27th August but that depends upon the centre refurb being finished.

Fees for next year

The AGM re-elected the existing committee though we still seek more volunteers for all our activities. The AGM also addressed the question of a fee for membership from September and it was unanimously agreed by all members that the annual fee should be increased to £40.

This increase is due to the fee of £35 per year has been the same since after Covid ( 2021) five years ago

The existing fee has not kept up with inflation.

The costs of running the club are rising each year, with demonstrators more expensive, especially the good ones, the new owners of the centre likely to increase their charges and a request by members to open for longer throughout the year.

This fee increase also allows us to continue free club evenings, saving regular members £3 each visit

Scottie

Coming up next, Caroline, better known to many of us as Scottie, will be holding a solo exhibition. This promises to be a wonderful opportunity to see a wide range of her work brought together in one place and to appreciate the breadth of her creativity and talent.

Having put together exhibitions of my own work, I know just how much time, effort and planning goes into preparing for a solo show. I also know how much it means to have the support of fellow club members.

If you can, please make some time to visit Caroline's exhibition. Your support will be greatly appreciated, and I'm sure you'll enjoy seeing her work on display.

Reflections Challenge

Towards the end of August we will provide a link for you to upload your artwork. We will select a range of work to feature in the poster for the next exhibition. A date in September for your to bring the actual work in so that we can all vote for our favourites will also be published.

Plein Air

Over the next couple of months, there’ll be some chances to get together and paint outdoor doors with other members.

Joanna will be sharing all the venues and times on WhatsApp, so keep an eye out there for updates.

We’re aiming to vary the days of the week so everyone gets a fair chance to join in at some point.

When choosing locations, we’ll be looking at a good mix of interesting subject matter, plus practical things like parking, facilities, and somewhere nearby for refreshments.
